All the artists who've played at Air over the years, ranging from scene leaders such as Freestylers and Stanton Warriors, through to rising stars such as Will Saul and Janette Slack, have contributed bespoke tracks especially for the mix, making Ali B Presents Air Breaks a definitive snapshot of the worldwide breaks scene in 2006. From Hip Hop infused beats, bumping grooves and tech breaks the only remit was 'make it funky.'. Air joins Two Tribes...This year, Air made it's first journey to the Southern Hemisphere, joining the annual Two Tribes tour that takes in Australia's four major cities, Sydney, Perth, Melbourne, and Brisbane. |
| The Air Arena featured James Lavelle, Ali B, Lee Coombs, and Dylan Rhymes. Outside of the Air umbrella, Ali - whose last single with Jungle Brothers was playlisted on the national station, Triple J - also traveled to Hobart, Byron, and Melbourne for club shows, before jumping further south for shows in New Zealand, with dates at Christchurch, Queenstown, Auckland, and Wellington. Ali also returned to China for the third time, for gigs in Beijing and Shanghai. You can read about his past Chinese exploits in the 23rd April edition of the Sunday Times' Culture magazine. |
